Community Bible Study

Come see what happens in people’s lives when they discover God through the study of His Word, the Bible. Our classes meet weekly during the school year. Each class participant receives a course book with a commentary and home study questions. Each week, you’ll participate in small group discussions and a large group teaching. From time to time, fellowship meals will provide special times of sharing and relationship building within the class.

This is a Women's Class
WED at 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Registration is currently open

Whether you are  new to studying  the Bible, or  have studied for years, we invite you to join us as we delve into God's Word. Our hope and prayer is that together, we may discover and experience first hand, the transforming power of His Word in our lives.  Each registered class member receives a workbook with home study questions.  Following a brief opening time of praise and worship, we meet weekly in our assigned small groups to share and discuss our answers and insights. We then re-group for a  teaching of the week’s lesson. Additionally, each month we include extra fellowship time within our small groups.  For the 2022-2023 year, we will study Joshua (6 weeks), James (6 weeks), Job (6 weeks), and 1 & 2 Peter (12 weeks).

Our classes are scheduled

 September 14, 2022-May 17, 2023

Featured Course Studies for 2022-2023

JOSHUA: The book of Joshua picks up where Deuteronomy leaves off. After leading the Israelites out of Egypt and through 40 years of wanderings in the wilderness, Moses died. But God remained faithful to His promise. He appointed Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, where they would at last find rest in a place of their own.

JAMES:The epistle James is one of the most practical books in the Bible. This course’s lessons encourage each class member to lead a more consistent, caring Christian life and to explore the practical application of faith in family and society.

JOB: The book of Job addresses a millennia-old question: Why does a good God allow suffering? It explores the various theories people have offered in response to this troubling problem. Perhaps no other book of the Bible addresses such raw and vulnerable suffering. We learn from Job’s painfully honest example that it’s okay to struggle and question in times of great suffering and loss—provided we keep taking those questions to God and don’t lose faith in Him. We also gain wisdom on what to do and especially what not to do when those we love go through difficult times. Given the nature of Job’s themes, participants may be surprised by the encouragement they receive from this study.

1& 2 PETER: In these two letters, the apostle Peter offered encouragement to followers of Christ who were living as exiles and being persecuted for their faith. These books exhort believers to hope and godly living. They teach about godly relationships and warn about false teachers. They point to Jesus as our example in suffering and faith, and remind us that true security can be found only in God.

The Ethnos opportunity in Community Bible Study (CBS) provides in-depth Bible for whom English is not their first language. The mission of Ethnos is to make the study of the Bible available to those who are unable or would struggle to understand it in standard English. As foreign-language speakers and those learning English engage with God’s Word, lives are transformed, and disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ are made. Ethnos also participates in the global vision of CBS as participants reach back to their native countries extending the gospel around the world.
